Publication Ethics


LABIQA: Journal of Informatics and Information Technology is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This statement is based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and applies to all parties involved in the publication process: authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.


Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors who submit manuscripts to this journal must ensure that:

  • The submitted manuscript is original and has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
  • All data presented in the manuscript are accurate, honest, and properly obtained.
  • Any form of plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or duplication is strictly prohibited.
  • All sources and references are properly cited.
  • Authorship is limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the research.
  • Any potential conflict of interest is clearly disclosed in the manuscript.
  • Research involving human participants or sensitive data complies with ethical standards and applicable regulations.

Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in accordance with reviewers’ and editors’ comments in a timely manner.


2. Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

  • Making publication decisions based on the manuscript’s academic merit, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
  • Ensuring a fair, unbiased, and confidential review process.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and author information.
  • Avoiding conflicts of interest in handling manuscripts.
  • Taking appropriate action in cases of suspected ethical misconduct, including plagiarism or data manipulation.

Editors shall not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and editorial board members.


3. Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Conduct reviews objectively, fairly, and professionally.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the manuscripts under review.
  • Identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.
  • Inform the editor of any potential conflict of interest.
  • Refrain from using unpublished material disclosed in a submitted manuscript for personal advantage.

4. Peer Review Ethics

The journal applies a double-blind peer review process to ensure impartiality. All review comments must be constructive and aimed at improving the quality of the manuscript.


5. Plagiarism and Misconduct

The journal has zero tolerance for plagiarism and unethical behavior. Manuscripts are screened for similarity using plagiarism detection software.

Any detected misconduct may result in:

  • Rejection of the manuscript
  • Retraction of published articles
  • Notification to authors’ institutions if necessary

6. Retraction, Correction, and Withdrawal Policy

The journal may retract or correct articles in cases of:

  • Serious ethical violations
  • Significant errors affecting the validity of findings
  • Proven cases of plagiarism or redundant publication

Retraction decisions follow COPE guidelines and are made by the editorial board.


7. Conflict of Interest

All authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any conflicts of interest that could influence the publication process.


8. Ethical Oversight

Any ethical concerns or allegations of misconduct should be reported to the editorial office of LABIQA: Journal of Informatics and Information Technology. All reports will be handled confidentially and in accordance with ethical standards.
